January 26, 2015

So the big push this week was to find and not only did we hit 50 other lessons but we blew it out of the water with 62! Not that numbers matter but we came in 3rd for the zone and I thought that was pretty cool. We ended up teaching 603 other lessons as a zone and finding over 100 new investigators. Again, how cool is that?

Ha it's interesting, I've learned a lot this week that busy doesn't always mean successful. Sure we've been busy, but there are always going to be things to keep us busy. The important thing is being occupied with the best things, not just the good things. This finding week was fun, but I'm excited to go back, and re-prioritize our schedule and just enjoy every minute of this mission for all that a mission is. Ha I think that's my favorite advice I got from my trainer, don't become disappointed because a mission isn't what you expected, but learn to love a mission for what it is. Sometimes, that's learning to love cold toes because it meant you got to walk 30 blocks and give a Book of Mormon to the unlikeliest of characters.

It was a hard week because both of our investigators had to push back their dates for baptism, which is cool and all in the Lord's time but I think I need to stop praying for patience. We taught some very intoxicated people on buses, had the coolest lesson with the Armstrongs on mercy and faith, I actually knocked on doors for more than 15 mintues!, and we went ice skating in sneakers after our morning run on the frozen park fields. It's cool, all the public parks here freeze over their softball diamonds with layers of water and then do free public skating and have little bonfires and hot chocolate. (We can't actually participate with real ice skates because it's against the white hand book but I totally think Magrath should do this.) Ha on of our favorite bus drivers informed us Sister Pope needs to change her name because she can't be a Sister and a Pope. He jokingly told me when I got off the bus that I shouldn't forget to take my nun with me. Oh how I love my nun companion. I hope everything is great at home and it was so cool to hear the gala was a success. Save me some gumbo! And I'll send you some fried cheese curds. Ha, it's a good thing we run in the mornings.

Love you! Taking the sin out of Wiscon,

Sister Cook
