We are getting excited to call home! We will be spending Christmas morning with our President at the church with some other bus areas at a breakfast. I guess since we don't have cars, they take pity on us and feed us which I am not sad about at all. It will be really fun to spend that time with President, his family and our surrounding fellow bus friends. We also finish up the Book of Mormon next week, which we have been reading as a mission and I'm excited.
I decided that my gift to Christ this year will be reading Jesus the Christ before April 6th. It's going to be fun. I also read it with a dictionary because for such a cool book with simple doctrine, they use lots of big words. It'll be spiritual prep for retaking the GRE.
We had the best time this week at the ward Christmas Party which included investigators attending, lots of ugly Christmas sweaters and hot chocolate with sugar cookies. You really can't get better than that. But wait! It can! They were in desperate need of people to help set up, so we got to come and put up the trees, set the tables and help set up the nativity all while listening to Christmas music and wearing reindeer antlers. The prep for Christmas is probably my favorite part. One of my favorite primary kids, Jacob, made me a special Christmas tree to pin to my sweater and I felt pretty cool. Ha Melissa (our investigator) kept handing me her daughter to hold, so I had to keep awkwardly setting her down. At one point I was holding her and looked at Bishop who just smiled and laughed at me. I wish I could just say out loud #missionaryprobs
We were so excited because not only did Sister Armstrong come to church, but two other investigators did! One is an older lady named Lucille who really likes to chat, it was super funny because all during Sunday school she was whispering to us asking questions and during Relief Society, she left to use the washroom and came back in through a different door and during announcements yelled, where are my sister friends! It was really funny, they guided her back to where we were sitting and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We also had a miracle happen and our choir nailed Little Drummer Boy! I say miracle because if you heard any practice you'd say, those poor souls who had to listen, but even Alli (our director) said she felt like angels where leading her hands. Win for the gospel! Win for Christmas!
We have been so well fed this month, and it's so cool spending so much time with members! We got to see the VanHille's last night and their little boy is hilarious. He wasn't totally on board with having a new Sister Missionary, but he warmed up relatively fast. The other great supper was on Monday with the Lofgran's. They have the little boy named Jacob who I just love. Anyways, his mom said he could pick out the treat for the Sisters. She had grabbed some cup cakes until Jacob said, "Mom, we HAVE TO GET THEM THESE!" We ate in anxious anticipation as Sister Lofgran explained this might not be the typical treat we get and tried to discourage him. But he was too excited. So at the end of our lesson, Jacob runs into his room and comes out carrying...
It was awesome. We love cheese puffs.
I have also thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas spirit that was mailed from home! I jingle the bells constantly and occasionally where my antlers and sneak up behind Sister Pope yelling Moose Attack! She likes me, most of the time I think. Ha ha, I love you all and feel your prayers of support. I'm praying for everyone back home and excited to see what this Christmas and New Year will bring! Love,
Your Moose
