So there are tender mercies and they are named Luke and Max. The worlds most adorable identical twins. I love them. There poor parents must think I'm crazy but they remind me of Cori and they make the separation anxiety easier. And there mom makes us super good suppers so that's awesome and a definite plus. I never realized how lucky we are to have people who will feed the missionaries.
So the lessons are going great and we have a lady who set up a baptismal date! Woot woot. So in good faith keep in mind we teach lovely people. Ha but I do have to tell about a guy named Phil. He's super nice but not all the way there. For example, last week he told us he is the Holy Spirit and has recently raised Tupac (the rapper) from the dead and he is now in Mexico running the stock market. Ladies and gentleman, we have found Tupac. We now just visit him once every few weeks and transferred him to the Zone Leaders.
Now those prayers of safety have been rolling in because we taught in some of the most down right charming areas this week. There is a lot of random wildlife here like squirrels and bunnies hopping everywhere. It feels like the movie Enchanted all the time and I just want to yell where are you Gesselle?! But add that to cobblestone houses and shaded green streets and you feel like you are in a fairy tale. I get why people live here. But then you see these little bugs called cicadas (spelling?) and they make this creepy buzzing sound and live in the trees with these creepy shells and I remember Alberta is the place for me. We had tea (kosher I promise, the fake tea, flavoured water) with a lovely mom and daughter named Constance and Rachel right after meeting the coolest hobby farmer from Minnesota and he said we can come back and teach him any time if I bring him a picture of the farm. Win! People also think it's charming we say washroom. Did I tell you I found a Balderson relative at the MTC when we both asked for a washroom? It's the little things really.
There is this really great talk that I think they made into an audio book you can buy called the Missionary Next Door. Definitely listen to it or youtube it because it's awesome and the lady is hilarious.
It's so crazy I've been out over a month now and even crazier that I haven't discovered the secret doctrine I thought I would as a missionary. I think I thought they'd give us a packet of new stuff to teach but really the beauty of this gospel is it's simplicity of doctrine. What we teach, it isn't earth shattering or new, but as we live it it has the power to truly change us and that is earth shattering and really new to me as I'm realizing I truly am my first convert. I mean I went to seminary and had this awesome family who raised me in gospel principles but it just clicked to me who Alma was and who is writing what book. I actually have to map it out on a piece of paper and that's really been helping but the scriptures are coming to life in a whole new way for me and it is simply just by reading more. Mom and Dad you were right, the gospel is true and we do have a loving Father in Heaven who simply wants us to come back home. So he provided a way to do that. It doesn't mean it will be easy but how lucky are we? Better off, but never better than. This gospel is for everyone and that includes me.
We are off to go and tour a brewery, I think its called Spreklers but they make some mean root beer. Our District is going and it should be fun. I'll send you some pictures of that next week along with some of our apartment. We live on the upper level of this cute little house.
