January 5, 2015

Guys, it's cold here. I mean we'll survive and all but still, burrr. At first I thought all these people were just whiners, but nope. The cold was just delayed until January. Don't look at the weather, it's a bit of a downer. But I did find my favorite pun for our British Elder who refuses to wear gloves and now I call him Frost Britain. My district got destroyed last week! I am now the only remaining member of my original district and they took out our Hmong set of City Branch missionaries. So now we just have 3 sets of full time missionaries and 1 senior couple but it's still fun. Our new Elder for our ward is named Elder McMoore and is here from Hawaii and was born in New Zealand. We joke our district is United Nations because we have 4 countries represented. We have a great time playing sports together on Mondays and we try to go out and eat lunch every once in a while as a group. Our DL calls us a squad, not a district which I find entertaining. We even have a hand shake. Well sort of, it's more like an awkward fist bump but tomatoe tomatoe. (Say that with different pronunciations)

But this week has been great! A lot of our normally scheduled visits where canceled because everyone was out of town so we met lots of less actives we don't normally get to see and rode a lot of buses meeting some pretty fun new people. The Badgers were a media referral that didn't know they had been referred. Ha apparently a brother who just returned from a mission sent them us as a friendly jest. However it back fired because they were so nice to us and invited us back over for supper. God is so cool sometimes. The Badgers took a picture with us and sent it to their brother asking if he was responsible. Both of them are baptized but haven't been active since they were youth. The husband is actually in the Marine Core but works as a biologist on ships. Now I love speech, but if I were to ever explore new options, how cool would that be?

I feel like this week will best be described in pictures but in summation, I got to be in bed at 10:30 for New Years and not be lame! God loves me. And we met a man with a fake leg who called me honey and wished me a happy 2015. Can't get better than that now can you? The gas station attendant where we frequently stop and get hot chocolate took a mormon.org card and wants to learn more and teach us a bit about his. Also, I love you. Like a lot. Just know that. And the gospel is true and brings amazing peace.

Merry Christmas from City Sqaud
