October 27

This week was just really great. There were no more ninja cats or mice incidents so win for this week! We met some of the most wonderful and bizarre people. One lady who is convinced of the illuminate (conspiracy theory of the government poisoning us slowly by airplane emissions) asked us if she joined the church, would she look young forever? Ha, that was right after I told her I was 24 and Sister Reese just turned 23. We saw a sign that said, instantly look 10 year younger and we laughed because then we'd look about 9. Anyways, she was very nice and interested in our take on the second coming and the worlds preparation for it. I think she might be in the select few who really enjoy Isaiah.

I also learned that my District is a whole new brand of nerdy. I love them dearly but during our training meaning on the Law of Chastity we compared obedience to chinks of armor used for live action role play and the majority of our Elders are really really into the computer game MineCraft. Not a bad thing, but still entertaining. I'm just not young and hip anymore I suppose. It was a great lesson though and it prepared us well as Sister Reese and I had to teach the Law of Chastity twice this week.

We get to meet the most talented and amazing people. There is a man named Brother Tim whom we meet with on occasion, his wife is a less active member but they aren't really interested in the church. However they don't mind when we stop by. Brother Tim use to be a gospel singer and actually sang us a few tunes. Great voice, he's a little odd though. I guess the last sister who left here was told by him that she would convert an entire Amish community. Ironically, her home is right close to one. He looked into my eyes and told me I was a good person, but that I would need help in dealing with this new world of Milwaukee. He also said I had lovely eyebrows and eyelashes which is always nice to hear. Ha his neighbor calls herself Lord Debora but she has a son named Vincent who we are really excited to teach. We will go back Wednesday and Debora said she was going to write us a rap about the introduction to the Book of Mormon.

Ha we really do love everyone we meet and we are lucky to have some sincere and awesome investigators. One of them is named Melissa and she came over to the Boswell's with us for supper. While I played with / tried to control her two young children, Sister Reese had a great lesson with her on the importance of Sunday. It amazes me that even in a slightly crazy atmosphere, the spirit can be felt. I know I have said this before but we love the Boswells! Brother Boswell actually played basketball for BYU and his wife served a mission in Scotland around the same time as Brady. They come out to a lot of lessons with us and are the best ward missionaries.

One of the many highlights of this week was getting to go to the Lutheran Home twice. Both times were Polka filled. Now I am not a Polka person but this crowd definitely is. We played the Polka and tossed around a balloon for an hour and I have never seen a happier crowd. Ellsworth, one of the older men in the group kept yelling, "Dance!" So I did my weird foot shuffle dance moves. You know the same ones as always and everyone clapped and cheered. It's a very supportive crowd. Sadly, the mission hasn't taught me any new moves. Alice, one of the ladies who had a stroke and can't move her left side was shimmying with her right shoulder. It was awesome. And Verna, the softball loving granny whom I hope to be when I grow up, was cranking her arms solider boy style and just having a grand old time.

We got to go to the Water Front last week and the zoo today. Turns out Lake Michigan is massive! And don't worry, I will be attaching my selfie with a giraffe.

Sacrament meeting this week was awesome. We talked about how joy isn't just a one time event or something reserved for special occasions but can and should be felt often. I also was put on the spot in Relief Society as our teacher asked me as a Sister who doesn't have the Priesthood currently in her home, how do I still feel power as a missionary? I was surprised at my answer but grateful as I knew it was true. I said as a missionary I was set apart to be a representative of Jesus Christ and as such I can make promises in his name as lead by the Spirit. I love my investigators so much and as I make them promises and encourage them to make commitments, I want and have to act in complete faith that what I say will and can happen. Because I do love these people, and I don't want to make them empty promises or do anything to lead them the wrong way. But as I act in faith and in His name, I don't have to fear. Because He has promised that the blessings of the gospel are for everyone, and as we keep His commandments, He will not ever leave us. He is our father.

I love this gospel and I love you. Talk to you soon!
